The Automobile Basics You Should Know Before Driving

Before putting yourself behind the wheel of a car there are things to be taken care of for any driver from new to experienced. First thing that should be done, is to check fluid levels and do a quick lookover of the vehicle. Be sure that tires are inflated properly, check for things laying about the vehicle that may cause a problem and move them, and top off any fluids (brake, power steering, oil, washer fluid, antifreeze). This will ensure that your trip gets off to a great start.

Once you have taken care of the exterior of the car, get into the driver’s seat. Make necessary adjustments to mirrors and the seat. Make it so that you are comfortable while driving and not straining to see through your visuals or reaching the pedals. Be sure to fasten your seat belt and adjust it as needed. Remember it is there to help protect you. It is important to have a natural feel when behind the wheel of your automobile. If you are making a long trip, be sure to stop and stretch your legs about every two hours.

Once you have started on your trip be mindful of where you are going. Be prepared for unexpected situations such as road construction or other disturbances to traffic. Be courteous to other drivers and obey the rules of the road.
